Welcome to Legally Absurd:
“May It Please the Court
Hey everyone, and welcome to the beginnings of Legally Absurd, a NEW Substack that dares to ask the truly important legal questions. The ones that keep you up at night… OR rather, someone asked somewhere and it kind of made sense to you but you don’t have any legal background to know if you understand it, or whatever…
1. Is it legal to…
Wear mismatched socks in court? Does your neighbor's overly enthusiastic lawn gnome have grounds for an emotional distress lawsuit? OR what about the philosophical quandary: if a tree falls in the forest and no lawyer is around, is it really a tort? What even is a tort; does anyone really know?
2. Call on Ringo for the answer
If your brain occasionally wanders down delightfully bizarre legal rabbit holes, or you are just curious about the law, then you have found the right place! Here, we will discuss situations and cases that might be unworldly, but with real legal concepts.
Legally Absurd will tackle the silliest "Is it legal?" questions with a (mostly) straight face and a healthy dose of humor. I'm Ringo, your guide through this legal journey. As someone who has witnessed firsthand the surprisingly serious debates over the definition of “Chicken” in contracts, I've learned that the law, while often complex, can also be unintentionally humorous.
